RULES & FORMAT
Each team will consist of two golfers. Golfers do not need a handicap.
Teams will play at the appropriate TEAM skill level based on their historical data or practice round before the season begins.
A Level = Avg 9-hole team scramble score is -1 and lower. 8 ft putting distance ‘gimmes’.
B Level = Avg 9-hole team scramble team score is -1 to +3. 10 ft putting distance ‘gimmes’.
C Level = Avg 9-hole team scramble team score is E to +6 and higher. 12 ft putting distance ‘gimmes’.
D Level = Avg 9-hole team scramble team score is +6 and higher. 16 ft putting distance ‘gimmes’.
*Note1: Although Tee box color varies per course, the A level will always play from the tips, B level plays from one tee box in front of the tips, and the C and D level will play one tee box in front of the B league. Junior golfers under the age of 12 will play from the Junior tee boxes. If there are no Junior tees, they will play from the shortest available tee boxes for that course.
*Note2: Outdoor/grass handicap is irrelevant for determining indoor league level. It is the 2-player TEAM scramble score that dictates the level.
Teams that played in the prior season will have their scores reviewed to ensure they are playing at the appropriate level, and may be required to move up a level in the next season.
Teams will have a 1 hour and 10 minute slot each week to play 9 holes in a 2-player Scramble format. The two players together will post a single score for their team each week. If a team does not finish their 9 holes within the allotted time slot, they will record a bogey for each remaining unfinished hole.
There are no mulligans. [Mulligans are turned on for Staff to use in the event of a glitched shot. Unapproved use of mulligans results in immediate DQ from the week. A second occurrence of unapproved use of mulligans results in DQ from the season without refund].
Each season will consist of 6 weeks of ‘Regular Season’ play, followed by 2-3 weeks of a bracket-style, single-elimination Playoffs.
A new course is played each week of the season. Each team plays the same course. System settings such as fairway hardness, green speed, course elevation, etc. will be the same for all teams, regardless of which room each team plays in.
Player substitutes for a single week are NOT allowed and a single player is NOT allowed to play alone (both balls) in the 2-player scramble format. In the event that one team member is unable to play, the team will either forfeit, or the remaining player can choose to play solo (stroke play). If a player must drop out of the season, the team can replace that player with a new player so long as; (1) the season is within the first 3 weeks and (2) the new player is of approximately the same skill level as the player he/she is replacing. After the 3rd week of the season, the remaining player may play the final 3 weeks solo (stroke play).
If a team needs to miss a week, at least 24-hour advanced notice must be provided and a make-up slot will be re-scheduled either in advance of, or after, the slot missed. If 24 hours advanced notice is not provided, the round will not be rescheduled and the team will record 0 pts for the week. Although that slot is lost, the team may elect to rent a bay to play the missed round and record a score before the end of that week (Sunday at 7pm).
All 6 regular season rounds must be completed before the end (Sunday, 7pm) of Week 6 to prevent delays to starting Week 1 of the Playoffs.
Teams will accumulate points on a weekly basis according to scoring rules defined below.
Weekly and season long standings will be posted in the facility and online.
There are no prizes for weekly winners. Prizes are awarded at the end of the season.
REGULAR SEASON SCORING
Points are awarded to teams on a weekly basis, based on the weekly event standings within their league or division.
A League will use the following point structure:
1st Place = 10 pts
2nd Place = 5 pts
3rd Place = 2 pts
4th Place = 1 pt
B, C, and D leagues will use the following point structure:
1st Place = 12 pts
2nd Place = 8 pts
3rd Place = 4 pts
4th Place = 2 pt
5th Place = 1 pt
Ties for any place will split the points for that place and cancel the points for the succeeding places.
Example 1 (A league): Two teams tie for 1st place. Each team gets 5 points. No points are awarded for second place. 3rd place gets 2 pts and 4th place gets 1 pt.
Example 2 (A league): Two teams tie for 1st place and 2 teams tie for 2nd place. The two first place teams get 5 points each. The two second place teams get 1 pt each.
PLAYOFFS
The top “X” number of teams with the highest number of cumulative season points at the end of the 6th week will advance to the playoffs. The number of playoff teams depends on the number of participating teams each season. Playoffs will be bracket-style, single-elimination. See EXAMPLE format below. In the event of a tie during any pre-Finals matchup, the winner will be determined by comparing the scores, hole-by-hole, of both teams over the 9 holes played. The team with the better score on the first hole wins. If both teams tied the first hole, then scores from the second hole will compared, and so on and so forth.
